She’s really curious! Just the other day I was listening to something – I cannot remember where and what! – about how horses react when humans approach them. However they studied what happened when 1. people used to horses that where not afraid of horses, 2. people that had experience of horses and where afraid of horses, and 3. people who and no experience of horses and where afraid of horses. I don’t remember the exact results of everything but the conclusion where that the horses showed the lowest stress level with the people that had no experience and where afraid of horses, and the highest stress level with people that had experience and where not afraid of horses. Interesting, isn’t it? I think that tells a lot of the importance of not having an agenda when you interact with horses, not touching for the pure sake of touching and to staying part of the dynamic still centered in yourself. I really appreciate you sharing the clip Letizia!
This is a very interesting change in dynamics of interaction from what was seen previously with this horse (family with baby). To me further information to support the idea that a horse will be different with different people. (ie., To not apply a hard and fast judgement of a horse’s personality.)
She seems intensely curious – pricked ears. The marked difference in her willingness to approach. How she looks away when he first retreats; is she taking the pressure off him? Is she contemplating her next action? Her ears change too following this. With the lip, could she be offering to do mutual grooming???
Very interesting interactions!
I perceived this interaction very differently from the one with the baby. Here I perceived the mare attracted in a different way to the person, a little more suspicious perhaps but there was also a different dynamic precisely because the man moved away.In any case the energy was higher, at least I perceived it that way. Surely every time there is a close interaction and the energy or tension rises, I often notice “diversions” in horses … some look over, others scratch, others graze, as if to lighten the interaction, but the object of their attention is clear! Thanks for your interest!!
