There is a 10 yo Andalusion ( or at least looks like one) gelding called Santo in Woodside, CA in need of adoption .
His owner bught him thinking he was getting a trail horse, but learned later the horse is traumatized undersaddle – likely from Charro training. Owner is beyond his capabilities to provide the non-ridden lifelstyle he believes the horse needs.
I’m sorry I don’t have a photo at this time. I met the horse the other day and he is friendly. A full vet and dental check up was preformed to make sure that the reaction to riding wasn’t a major or unseen physical issue and nothing obovious in that regard was determined. I know that is a standard we don’t rely on here, though it is not useless information nevertheless.
I apologize if this kind of post is not allowed here and will understand removal.
If any one has recommendations or interest please contact me at starfarmranch@gmail.com and put Santo in the subject line – thanks

 Hi Everyone ,

Stormy thank you for the zoom call. I learn always a lot. Lot of meaning in the sharing today.
I just want to share my breakthroughs with the “horse shower” or “bathing” with the Lady from Arizona, I think it was Holly her name , if not my apologies .
So bathing the horses for me was a “to do list” and of course under the program I was following (natural horsemanship) it was another thing that I had to “Teach” to my horses and of course I had to learn too (I was new to this) . The process was based on pressure and release , repetition and little by little each time till you reach a point where the horse is accepting it.
So for Bailey ( the horse who push me to look for another ways to be with horses), was a mild issue, but he wasn’t confortable 100%, he was scared and tense even though he was with time getting use to. but he was moving and moving trying to get rid off of the water, or the sensation in his body or trying to say another thing . I didn’t know back them…. But every time I had to give him a bath it wasn’t ease …
So when I started to learn about this way to communicate with horses I have decided inside to put all the training behind, so I was filling the water tanks and testing the different settings of a new hose , you know those that you can choose between shower, jet , rinse etc… out of the blue another horse (Alex ) came to me and literally asked me to shower him, right after him came Bailey and ask me for the same thing, guess what ? I eded up shower him fully completely because he wanted and he was there like a stick enjoying the water. After him came the mare, and by the end I was surrounded by them in a playful and lovely moment . that for me was the most amazing experience I would ever thought about having with them… I mean they were fully aware and mindful about asking me for shower…
The I bought those sprinkles that you use to water the grass and I put it on the middle of the paddock and they enjoying going in and out…

2 videos of that moment… Bailey is the Bay one the other is Alex.

Have a bless day everyone

Fly Spray .
Now that the fly season is starting I am wondering how is the best way to not being all the time applying flyspray to my horses… I. realized now that I have started to gave them the space to communicate, that they dont like it at all. Most of them leaves or they dont even come near to me when they see me with the fly bottle… Of course it has been a year since I didn’t apply it, and they must need to get use to it again but I am wondering how is the way of autonomous horsemanship for the fly spray . What is best to use to not bothering them all the time? I was thinking on using the Spot on along with the fly stopper …. Any recommendations or anyone who wants to share the experience around this topic?

Thank you and blessings

Hello dear friends,

Over the weekend I attened The Art of the Horseman Fair. It’s was the first time for me and I’m so glad I went. Of course, the main reason for attending was to watch Stormy’s presentations. Stormy – your skill as a filmmaker and narrator brings the fine art of communication to the beautiful message behind Autonomous Horsemanship. Your videos really stood out in that regard.

Since I was at the fair I explored the other presenters too. It was interesting to see how the concept of holistic has seemed to take over for “natural” . “Partnership” was still a fundamental ideal for horse-human relationships no matter how the human imagines his or her interactions with the horse. While there was more than one presenter – besides Stormy – who acknowledged non-riding as a reasonable way for humans to be together with horses, the desire to be on their backs and to gear one’s learning about horses to meet that goal is still strong and in so many cases seen as the way to give the horse his or her best life.

That being said – to even have the notion of non-ridden equines and the people who keep them on the same dais is remarkable. And in fact I think it’s great to have the spectrum represented because it becomes like a map to many territories.

Besides Stormy, I watched the videos of Andrea Wady plus her Interview with Paula and Jack Curtis. She ticked off some important language boxes for me, if you will, that shows the kinds of emotional and pscycological shifts we can encourage – i.e. give permission for – those still very much attached conventional ways to think differently or maybe better put, to accept their already different thinking as valid.

Kate Neligan also got my attention with her connection to spirituality, animal communication sensitivity and deep reverance for community. She made such great points about taking care of the language we use to talk to and about our horses. That’s something I know I share often with my clients and students and something I know all of you here also practice. I got a lot of ideas from her on how I want to present and support community for people who learn from my project A Horse Leads me to Water. ( I’ll share more about how that’s developing in another post. )

Further I watched some of what Angela Hall presented on herbal treatments for horses to self-medicate along with some of her anatomy and body work discussions. Herbology is an area in which I have long held interest and have been working into my self-motivated continuing education on living with horses.

Over all, I bookmarked a few websites and added to my book lists. Not only do I look forward to visiting the fair again next year – I hope some day I will be a presenter too!

Did you attend The Art of the Horseman Fair? Where there any presentations that brought you new insights or bolsetered your own contributions to the well-being of horses and humans?

Love,

I am an energy sensitive, so if you ever need a reading through an energy painting (a bit like a personal tarot card for you or your horse), please contact me.
I’d also like to invite you to my website, where I share my visions for a more balanced and harmonious world. Art and storytelling are a very important element in this process!

Hello,
a friend of mine told me today, that she is looking for a place where she could stay as a workling student and learn how to care for horses in exchange for her helping on the farm. She would still want to train horses and maybe also take riding lessons, but she is looking for a place where the horses are treated well and trained in a compassionate way. Does anyone know a place that might be interesting? Also does anyone know a place, maybe a rescue /mustang training facility or something similar, that has a kind approach to horse training and is open for working students? She was thinking about Canada or the US but other countries are finde too.
I would really appreciate any advice <3
